I haven't listened to your podcast because The Ministry of Time is next on my reading list...after my partner has finished it. He bought it and was initially excited. He's half way through and isn't loving it, hence why he keeps putting it down...I love the premise and am really looking forward to reading it.

Ooh interesting - can't wait to hear what you AND your partner think when you're both finished! x

Loved this episode and I agree with you both on this one! Adored the premise and the opening pages but it dropped off from there for me, for reasons you both mentioned. Excited about your upcoming guest author episodes! (And I would LOVE to join you both one day discussing THE RED TENT - one of my all time favourites – if you're ever interested!) xx

Isn't it funny how we're all so different in our reading! x

Yes! But I didn’t disagree with anything you both thought, it’s just that those things didn’t bother me

Loved listening again- a nice distraction while house cleaning this morning! 🧼

The Ministry of Time is not something I’d usually read but I did so I could follow along for the podcast.

I had no idea Graham was based on a real person- interesting!

I agreed with Anthea, I enjoyed the first 1/2 more and was invested and interested and then somewhere in the middle, it started to drag on and I wasn’t real fussed about what happened next… just continued to read to finish it. I could follow the main storylines but towards the end similar names and different roles and their responsibilities started to lose me.

And I recently had the same thought as Rachael’s husband, “Kiss” is quite a broad category.

There’s no way I’d put “Ministry of Time” in “Kill,” the same category I did for “All Fours,” as overall I suppose I enjoyed it. But the next book I read was “The Writing Class” and it was a nice, easy, feel good read and it would be “Kiss” as well but I enjoyed it a lot more than “Ministry of Time” so don’t think putting them both in a “Kiss” category seems to adequately reflect the different type of “Kiss!”

Aw thanks for reading to follow along!! I feel I'm in the minority with not loving The Ministry of Time so glad you were a bit ho-hum as well. And my husband will be happy to hear you agree with him. I quite liked Soph's One Date Wonder as an addition - what do you think of that?

My first reaction when “One Date Wonder” was brought up was a lot like Anthea’s … a bit puzzled by it, “Wonder” to me initially implied amazing! But pondering the question this morning while I had time driving, I could see it made more sense… it’s one date, it’s nice enough, no need to abruptly end it and are happy to suffer through it knowing you won’t go there again! Then I even googled it to get more of a gist of the phrase and it says “known for being unable to get a second date” and that sold me.

Yes I would be happy to call “Ministry of Time” a “One Date Wonder.” Been there, done that and won’t be going back.
